When two young boys, Artie and Harrison, become too absorbed in their tablets, Ziggy uses his magical kazoo to break the spell and invite them into a world beyond their screens. With a loud KAZOOO! the boys are whisked away on a whirlwind journey. On the back of Dino-Dog, a lovable and adventure seeking new best friend, they soar through vibrant skies and land in the fantastical Fungle the Jungle where the adventure really takes off.

What inspired you to write this book?
A deep love for my sons and a belief that children build confidence in themselves when they are encouraged to engage in the world around them. Too often, children are drawn into long sessions of screen time on tablets and phones which disengages them from the world and negatively affects their mental health at an early age. I want to encourage parents and kids to build forts, create art, play games, use their imaginations, and create meaningful memories while building connection with themselves and the people in their lives.

At a time when technology commands so much of our attention, Ziggy McBop and the Toy Swap is an important reminder that greater joy comes from seeing ourselves and our children create something together.

About the Author
When did you first decide to become an author?
My son Arthur wanted to create a book. Me as his typist, we created his book Ash’s Adventure to Lava Land. He inspired me to write Ziggy McBop and the Toy Swap in 2025.
What else have you written?
Nothing else, yet, but the adventures of Ziggy McBop will continue…
What do you do for work when you’re not writing?
I work in the healthcare and employee benefits field helping improve access to quality care for people everywhere.
What does your writing process look like?
Often sitting on my front porch rocking chair, drinking coffee in the early morning, listening to the birds chirp while I think of creative ways to build anapestic tetrameters and connect words that rhyme.
What does being an indie author mean to you?
Being an indie author means showing my kids and other kids that by using your imagination you can create something only you can create. Something new, something magical, and it’s so much fun doing it.
What do you wish you’d known before you published?
The editing process is very iterative and takes a lot of time!
What’s a great piece of advice you can share with fellow indie authors?
Enjoy the process. Don’t rush it and truly love what you are creating.
