Following find an interview with author Mark Swirsky:
- What is the name of the book and when was it published?
The book’s name is Legacy Book 1: Lost Legacy published on 4/17/2026
-
What’s the book’s first line?
First line: Legacy woke to a rough shaking of his shoulders. “Wake up, Legacy! We have intruders.”
-
What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.
Pitch: Having escaped the coup that killed his father, Legacy Boshagon finds himself on the run from a canid assassin in the kingdom of Estadia. But his troubles are far from over when the god of Alakkadia, El Bara, appears before him and offers him a life-changing opportunity. Amidst a world on the brink of destruction, Legacy must make a crucial decision: become a drostigi, a servant of El Bara, and fulfill an ancient prophecy, or seek revenge for his father’s death. As he grapples with his choices, a powerful dictator looms in the shadows, threatening to destroy everything Legacy holds dear.
-
What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?
I was inspired to integrate my Christian faith into a fast paced, adventure portraying the challenges of walking by faith in the face of evil.
-
What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?
This is a story for those who love fantasy with strange beings, ancient prophecy, a unique magic system, a dark lord, and where the struggle between taking revenge and seeking justice plays out.
-
What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character? Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?
Legacy has his family murdered and learns he is a subject of a prophecy he doesn’t want to fulfill and is called to follow a god in whom he doesn’t believe. He reminds me a lot of Eragon.
-
Is this the first book you’ve written?
This is my seventh book to publish. It will be part of a trilogy of which I’m working on the first draft of the third book. I most admire Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings which inspired me to incorporate allusions to Biblical truth in my books.
-
What’s the best and the hardest part of being an indie?
The hardest part of being an indie author is the marketing which I try to avoid as much as possible. I would go with a traditional publisher if I could keep control of the faith elements of the story.
