For those unfamiliar with Belinda and her friends, the colorful cast of characters comes to life thanks to author Brian Kavanagh’s gift for writing precise descriptors and dialogue. A fast and easy read, the story follows the classic murder mystery conceit of a group of strangers in a secluded old house on a dark, stormy night. The plot doesn’t become predictable, and Belinda is a likable, plucky heroine who readers will root for to crack the case.
