A group of thieves embark on a dangerous mission that puts them against forces of magic, monsters, and gods in this fantasy saga.

B.R. Michaels’s STOLEN HISTORIES is the first installment in the Infinite Night saga, drawing readers into an evocative, deeply rich world where magic, memories, and myth intertwine with politics, injustice, and rebellion.  Put together, it’s a layered, high-stakes fantasy that feels both epic in scale and intimate in emotion.

The story follows Amari Kato, a mostly deaf magical seer, along with her best friend and partner-in-crime, Taliya Camry, a powerful “wardbreaker” who has a flair for charisma and drama. After a successful heist at the imperial residence’s vault, the two thieves are approached by an ancient shapeshifter, Nuru, who offers them a dangerous job: infiltrate the Empire’s most secure and secretive vault, known as the Archive, to retrieve a stolen artifact of deep cultural and magical significance.

The job itself is a suicide mission, as no one who has crossed the Ethereal Planes has ever made it back alive. But Amari needs little persuasion to have a one-up against the Apolon Empire, a power that has stolen too much from too many for far too long.

To pull it off, Amari and Taliya assemble a ragtag crew of unlikely personalities—Kol, Najaah, and Erika—each with their own motives and stakes to get into the Archive, a place of “every forgotten idea, every piece of lost knowledge, every erased history.” Together, this mismatched group of thieves becomes the novel’s pulse, carrying its reader through intense planning, training sessions, narrow escapes, and encounters with dragons, spirits, and gods.

Character is the heart of STOLEN HISTORIES. Amari and Taliya are a vibrant, well-developed, and completely compelling duo. Their relationship is built on loyalty, fun banter, and shared trauma, and the way they push and protect each other adds more emotional weight to the story. Likewise, Kol, Najaah, Erika, and Nuru also individually leave their marks without cluttering the story; each member’s motive and personality adds texture and spark to the crew’s dynamic. Watching them learn to trust each other, not just with their secrets but also with their lives, is engaging. Likewise, seeing their friendship slowly develop feels both earned and heartfelt.

Michaels’s prose is both grounded and lyrical, balancing cinematic pacing with moments of quiet devastation, tension, and suspense. The world he creates is immersive, detailed without overwhelming his readers with too much information. The city breathes, its “ancient stones whispering tales of long-gone people and monsters,” while the “old Gothic spires” stand in stark contrast to the “towering skyscrapers”—capturing the conflict between the past and the present. This blend of history and magic seeps into every scene, making the city and the world itself feel like a character as much as the thieves navigating its secrets. Overall, this is a strong start to a new saga that promises even more magic and chaos in the books to come.

B.R. Michaels’s STOLEN HISTORIES is a sweeping, character-driven fantasy novel that comes with more than a thrilling adventure; it sparks a story about resistance, history, and the cost of truth.
