MADDENING MARAUDERS (The Last Lumenian, Book 6)

S. G. Blaise’s MADDENING MARAUDERS (The Last Lumenian, Book 6) is a lively, action-packed adventure story that doesn’t slow down. As the sixth book in the Last Lumenian series, MADDENING MARAUDERS should be read in its proper order rather than as a standalone. Rhona is an appealing heroine with a fierce sense of justice and an impetuous nature, though her tendency to use unnecessarily big words just because she can comes across as a bit childish. Her romance with the more guarded, suave MaxWell is passionate and features a good deal of entertaining banter, but it does feel a bit rushed. They have barely had a day or so to get to know each other before he, at least, is thinking things like, “She is the first thought when I get up in the morning and the last before I go to sleep,” which is adorably romantic but somewhat premature. The worldbuilding is creative and expansive,  but the villain, Dowager Queen Sheela, is rather one-dimensionally evil and less interesting as a result, though easy to hate. Still, for readers who just want to see heroic characters kick evil rear end and fall in love, MADDENING MARAUDERS will fit the bill.
