LOAD BEARING: A Novel

Is it possible to fall in love with a ghost? That’s what Hannah, the protagonist in Jane Hartsock’s LOAD BEARING: A Novel believes is happening to her, as she pours her heart and soul into renovating a mansion designed by the mansion’s long deceased architect. Readers will find themselves determining better explanations for Hannah’s obsession with the possibly murdered architect as they meet other characters in the story, especially her husband, a nearby neighbor and a small group of female friends, all of whom help her recognize her true self. While the setting, history and deceased characters in LOAD BEARING are fictional, with the depth of research the author has put into her story, along with her excellent writing, don’t be surprised if you find yourself consulting the author’s notes, just to be sure this novel is indeed, historical fiction.
