1.What is the name of the book and when was it published ? “TALI NOHKATI, THE GREAT CROSSING” published in 2019.

2. What’s the book’s first line ? “IT HAPPENED A LONG TIME AGO”


3. What’s the book about ? Give us the “pitch”. This is a coming-of-age journey across the American continent. Having lost everything, Tali Nohkata must learn to live again. His encounters will lead him to others like himself, and his many adventures will help him rebuild his life. Resilience and courage are the key themes of this story.


4. What inspired you to write the book ? A particular person ? An event ? The book of Forrest Carter : ” Cry Geronimo!”


5. What’s the main reason someone should really read this book ? To discover the extraordinary personality of this Indian warrior who was both a fighter and a visionary.

 

6. What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character? Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of? I see two distinctive traits in my character : courage and wisdom.


7. When did you first decide to become an author ? In adolescence


8. Is this the first book you’ve written ? No 


9. What do you do for work when you’re not writing ? I worked in music publishing


10. How much time do you generally spend on your writing ? When I’m writing, 2 or 3 hours/day


11. What’s the best and the hardest part of being an indie ? Independence may be greater, but sometimes at the risk of isolating yourself.


12. What’s a great piece of advice that you can share with fellow indie authors ? Never give up!


13. Would you go traditional if a publisher came calling ? If so, why ? I’ve always been fortunate enough to have been published through traditional channels. I’m very attached to the publisher/author relationship. Editing is a profession. As for me, I couldn’t do both at the same time.

14. Is there something in particular that motivates you (fame? fortune?) I’ve always loved writing. Getting published is my success. As for fame and fortune, you have to accept that you can’t control everything.


15. Which writer, living or dead, do you most admire ? Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.


16. Which book do you wish you could have written ? PERFUME – Patrick SUSKIND
