Pro Book Reviews
IndieReader has been providing professional book reviews to indie, hybrid and self-published authors–for almost 1/2 the price of our competition–since 2009. Our team of reviewers include working journalists, editors, librarians and published writers.

“One of the best written of all the professional reviews we’ve received so far, and much more skillful than both Kirkus and Foreword Reviews in your reviewer’s ability to step beyond personal bias. Thank you!”
River Faire

A few words from IndieReader founder, Amy Edelman
When we launched IndieReader back in 2009, it was with the intent of trying to level the playing field for self, hybrid and small press published authors. I had been both traditionally published (by Simon + Schuster in 1997 and Crown in 2007) and self-published, and so was in a unique position to see the challenges with each. At that time there were no other companies that offered review services for indie authors, let alone distribution and marketing options. It was like a desert out there, and we made it our goal at IR to provide some much-needed relief.
Now over 13 years later we have reviewed thousands of indie titles. In that time we have also seen most of the negativity directed at self-publishing disappear–to the point where indie books regularly make the major bestseller lists (which we post weekly), win major literary awards (including our very own Discovery Awards), and sell hundreds of thousands of copies. Which means that the competition to write and publish a great book has only become greater–as today’s writers aren’t just competing with other indie authors; they’re competing with traditionally published ones, too.
And, now more than ever, IR knows exactly what it takes for an indie title to not just succeed but stand out from the pack. So what are you waiting for? Via our curated and ever-expanding range of services, let our team at IndieReader help you build visibility and credibility for your indie book!

Advice from IR Approved Author Alexander Watson: “…check out the book Write, Publish, Repeat. Any advice I’d come up with would either be stolen from there or less helpful than the pearls in that book.”
Prehabilitation is the concept of using the weeks or months leading up to a planned major medical intervention—surgery, cancer therapy, pregnancy, etc. —to incorporate a structured medical optimization program. Most people aren’t walking around day to day in their most optimal health status, and after a major procedure and subsequent inactivity during recovery, they’re often even weaker and dependent on others than before.

IR Approved Author Brian Kimmel on his Motivation: “Continuing the legacy of the people who came before me.”
Courage battles despair in this timely tale about twin girls who are deported from New Jersey to Indonesia because of their father’s undocumented status. Japan soon lands and the family is incarcerated as civilian prisoners of war.

Advice from IR Approved Author Carl Wooldridge: “Self-starting and initiative is the name of the game with this part of the writing world. Own it.”
The book is about a man named Henrick, who is part of the army belonging to the kingdom of Claymore. He gets assigned to a special unit made to hunt down magic users in the kingdom, but on his first mission, his unit gets ambushed by a third party that was out there waiting for them.

Advice from IR Approved Author Tony Stewart (via Meghan O’Rourke): “…rather than waiting until you can set aside several hours for a writing session, try to write for at least fifteen minutes every day.”
Carrying the Tiger is an inspiring memoir which begins on the day I learn that my wife, Lynn, has incurable cancer, and ends when I finally begin to climb out of shattering grief and move forward. The book encompasses our entire journey, from the twists and turns of Lynn’s treatment, through the intimate grace of her departure from this world, and finally my struggle to form a new relationship while still deeply grieving.
