What is the name of the book and when was it published?
We Are All Made of Scars – January, 2023
What’s the book’s first line?
Everything is fine now, but it didn’t used to be. I could easily be dead already.
What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.
My book centers on my teen years, struggling with my mom’s severe drinking and trying as hard as possible to be normal in suburban Chicago, failing at every turn.
What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?
The tragic events of my youth lingered for years and after therapy and other help, I kept going back to that time, noticing a specific arc between my mom’s and my own journey that paralleled. The book tells those mirrored stories.
What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?
It’s a great window into the effects of alcoholism on a family. I also hope people in similar situations find experience, strength and hope in my story. It’s also a really captivating read!
Would you go traditional if a publisher came calling? If so, why?
Yes, because I think everyone needs to read this book and hear this story. We all have scars and empathy can heal us all.
