Brockman contains a great deal of wisdom in a very few pages, written in plain English for those parents experiencing their child’s hospitalization. Told simply, the authors list common-sense actions to help handle ‘your new normal,’ advocacy, and resources – whether it’s as easy as remembering to be kind, to laugh, to ask lots of questions, and to seek help when it’s needed. The same recommendations might very well hold true for anyone confronting a serious illness or expecting a long institutional stay.
