IR VERDICT:
In this nonfiction work based partly on the memories of her parents, author Karen Harmon recreates the adolescent years of her mother and father and how they came to later meet, marry, and raise a family together in British Columbia. Although clearly written, there’s an obvious bias toward her beloved parents, and the book strays off course with lengthy notes included in the text about mental illness, local history, poetry, and pop culture. Friends and family of the author and residents of Vancouver may find this book most appealing.
