Neal Holtschulte’s CREW OF EXILES is a fascinating sci-if adventure that often proves difficult to put down. The story is very clever, and the trials placed upon the central protagonist are reminiscent of the Judges who must ‘take the long walk’ of the Cursed Earth, in the Judge Dredd series. That said, an enjoyment of this style of sci-fi novel is not required; CREW OF EXILES is so well written – the character development in particular – that even those readers who wouldn’t normally gravitate towards futuristic sci-go tales should find something to enjoy here.
