Leader Board: The DNA of High Performance Teams received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Omar L. Harris.

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

Leader Board: The DNA of High Performance Teams, which became available on June 25th!

What’s the book’s first line?

Sam Lombardi’s habitual lateness would have been a huge problem if he weren’t so good at his job.

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

For team leaders of today and tomorrow, unlock the key to making high performance teams work by delving into this inspirational, relevant, and readily applicable story about a leader trying to do something very special with a team he’s creating to deliver a best-in-class product launch.

After the story, invest in the discussion to gain a trove of battle-tested resources that will positively transform your team dynamic!

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

My experiences with a high performance team early in my career and my search to replicate that success in teams I’ve led all around the world and then help others do the same!

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

To learn how to build a high performance team and high performance organization.

What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character?  Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?

Leader Board has a fictionalized true story at the heart of the book. The main character, Sam “Coach” Lombardi is based on a composite of leaders I’ve worked for. His most distinctive attribute is his vulnerability and willingness to do whatever it takes to build a high performance team.

If they made your book into a movie, who would you like to see play the main character(s)?

Sam Lombardi would be best played by James Caan!

When did you first decide to become an author?

I decided when I was 23 years old nearly 20 years ago.

Is this the first book you’ve written?

It’s my 3rd book actually. My first book, One Blood, was actually an Indie Reader Discovery Awards winner back in 2012 and received a 5 star rating!

What do you do for work when you’re not writing?

I am a country manager with Allergan PLC in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

How much time do you generally spend on your writing?

I write every day. Right now I’m hard at work on the follow-up to Leader Board called Halo: The Mission of High Performance Teams.

What’s the best and the hardest part of being an indie?

The best part is the direct connection I can foster with my readers and the control I have over the process. The hardest part is that it’s hard work to create an audience a reader at a time.

What’s a great piece of advice that you can share with fellow indie authors?

My best advice would be to investigate the services Reedsy.com has to offer you to produce a high-quality book! I used them for Leader Board and the experience was tremendous.

Would you go traditional if a publisher came calling?  If so, why?

I want to make a global impact with my work so I would definitely be open to that sort of relationship.

Is there something in particular that motivates you?

Changing the status quo of leadership and management!

Which writer, living or dead, do you most admire?

Stephen King.

Which book do you wish you could have written?

I wish I would have written Strengthsfinder 2.0!
