IR VERDICT:
Captivating from the very first line, THE HEALING OF HOWARD BROWN, the tale of a man coping with generational trauma following his father’s death, is as dense with salacious family drama as the extended family’s Louisiana bayou is with the muck of swamp-water. While the book may at times disappoint, due to the author’s propensity to test the limits of the reader’s willing suspension of disbelief, it more often delivers, and finishing this lush volume of prose, beautifully rendered, is an experience of utter satisfaction, not to be soon forgotten.
