What is the name of the book and when was it published?

Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is, May 2021

What’s the book’s first line?

Everyone has dreams of wealth.

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch.”

Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is helps you align money and meaning so you can live your best life.

Money is a means to an end. It takes you to something you envision—what your heart desires. That might be a more secure future, a better life for your family or whatever you dream will give your life purpose. If you don’t stop to examine the “why” of building wealth, it may never be “enough.”

Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is shares an award-winning financial life planner’s experience and philosophy as you get your financial life organized, set your intentions, think about how you want to invest, sort through your retirement savings and withdrawal options and protect your family even after you are gone.

A little heart and a little math create rich possibilities.

What inspired you to write the book?

When I first wrote Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is, we were just coming out of the Great Recession in 2009. It was a period of several years where people watched their stocks drop 55%–a very tough time to go through and watch your dreams face setbacks. My message then was to look forward and visualize where you want to go. Then build the infrastructure to support those dreams.

Now in 2022, with the second edition of Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is, this same advice is still very relevant as we face higher inflation, rising interest rates, a global pandemic and war.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

If you want to live a congruent life—where your values are reflected in everything you do including your money—Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is can help you take your first steps. You’ll learn how to get organized and understand how universal principles of gratitude, intention and mindfulness apply to setting goals, building a portfolio, even leaving a legacy.
