IR Approved Author Thomas DeConna on when he decided to become an author: “I don’t think you get to decide.  The decision is made for you, and it’s made early on.”

Season of Restorations received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Thomas DeConna.

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

Season of Restorations, February 2022.

What’s the book’s first line?

There is always more to do.

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

The story reveals how men live with distances among them, how generations inspire, and how the human spirit endures.

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I know a number of books that trace the relationships of women through generations, but I couldn’t think of a book that did this for  men.  I knew it would be a challenge because traditionally men keep personal feelings inside of them.  The narrative, therefore, relies on many flashbacks and unspoken thoughts.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

The story lets the reader see an honest look at men: their strengths, weaknesses, failures, and triumphs.

What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character?  Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?

Perhaps the most distinctive thing about the main character is that he is quite common.  He doesn’t have all the answers, he makes mistakes, but he also finds a way to move forward.

When did you first decide to become an author?

I don’t think you get to decide.  The decision is made for you, and it’s made early on.
