Author A.K Taylor paints a vivid and intricate picture of a world in which young girls are empowered and able to meet the challenges that life throws at them.
Amanda Hawk is an eighteen year old girl from Loganville, Georgia who becomes brave warrior Captain Neiko Kidd in the make-believe land of Quari, where she leads her action figures against the evil Crackedskulls. Amanda takes on the mission of saving her hidden world despite meeting opposition from Raven and Bloodhawk, her mortal enemies.
a girl who lives, the world of average people and the world of native inhabitants of the American continent, Indians.
The dialogue between the characters is quite believable, and the descriptions of the two worlds in which Amanda inhabits—Loganville and Quari—are quite detailed. While Neiko’s Five Land Adventure is classified in the YA genre, the introduction of mythical and historical characters—including Genghis Khan and Ramses—add more edge to the plot, making it an interesting read for adults.
Taylor weaves a great tale of honor, strength and how belief in one’s self will pull you through. Neiko’s Five Land Adventure is a wonderful coming of age story and a fantastical twist to the childhood game of Cowboys and Indians.
