IRDA Winner Michelle Melendez on “End Dieting Hell”

End Dieting Hell was the winner in the Health/Medicine/Nutrition category of the 2020 IndieReader Discovery Awards, where undiscovered talent meets people with the power to make a difference.

Following find an interview with author Michelle Melendez.

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

End Dieting Hell: How to find peace in your body and release the weight.

What’s the book’s first line?

Why should you listen to me?

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

This book teaches readers the #1 reason they struggle with weight year after year and what to do about it. That reason is emotional addiction. People become emotionally addicted to struggling with their weight because of trauma from their past. If someone has been overweight most of their life, it actually feels normal for them to struggle. That is the main reason they sabotage their weight loss goals. It doesn’t feel normal for them to like their body. This book helps readers learn how to release their emotional addiction to being overweight and finally live in a body they love. It gives new perspectives to an old paradigm.

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I’ve been a weight loss specialist since 2007 and saw many clients yo-yo with their weight year after year even after losing weight with me. I wanted to learn why. I didn’t believe it was fair that my clients would hire me to help them lose weight and I wasn’t able to help them long-term…until now!

What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character? Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?

The character is the reader. The reader will see themselves as they read this book and discover how to find peace in their body so they can release the weight and live in a body they love.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

If you’ve struggled with your weight most of your life, this book was written for you!

When did you first decide to become an author?

Many years ago.

Is this the first you’ve written?

Yes, this is the first book I’ve written.

What do you do for work when you’re not writing?

I’m a “live in a body you love” specialist

Would you go traditional if a publisher came calling?  If so, why?

Yes, to reach more people.

Is there something in particular that motivates you (fame? fortune?)

Seeing the ahah and the look of hope in my clients eyes when they finally understand why they’ve been struggling for so long and realizing they truly can live in a body they love.

Which writer, living or dead, do you most admire?

Wayne Dyer.
