URSULA’S UNDERGROUND WORLD

By Jean Wolf

IR VERDICT:

Jean Wolf’s historical novel URSULA’S UNDERGROUND WORLD offers an altered post-WWII landscape, where Eva Braun survived, gave the allies information on the Nazis, and went into hiding until the 1960’s. Four children who survived Dachau and were adopted to live in America  are now young adults, whose lives are further altered by the erection of the Berlin Wall, and the choices they feel they must make in the face of hatred and discrimination in both countries. The novel covers a lot of ground, physically and psychologically, as it probes the depths and continuing effects of atrocities.
