Neuro-engineer computer scientist Zeon is in prison on the planet Jora, stranded on an island with only his self-created A.I., Harry IV for company. Jora is the same planet as Earth, but in a parallel universe. When a missile is launched at Zeon, in an attempt to kill him and Dooria, vice-governor of the Atlantic Alliance, Zeon’s home nation shows up and Zeon is dragged into a battle to save humanity.
Zeon is one of the few people who knows about Pangea, the realm of the messengers of the gods, who are actually an ancient alien race. Pangea is where human consciousness goes when we sleep, a dream realm that is now under threat. If Pangea falls, so will the human race. A reluctant Zeon is convinced to help by Jane, his old mission partner and lover who is already embroiled in the battle.
Fighting inside the dream-realm of Pangea is both beautiful and devastating as it contains lush gorgeous mountainsides and forests, along with fatal artillery, danger and death. The mind is a powerful tool inside Pangea, able to grant almost superhuman metaphysical powers. There, Zeon meets an interesting cast of characters, including Primavera, a wise young girl who has experienced death first-hand; Zeon’s best friend Ravi, who was murdered on Earth; and Khof, an enemy who is the spitting image of Zeon himself. As Zeon joins a band of human rebels, the plot thickens, as Zeon beings to question who the real enemy is and war intensifies. Zeon soon realizes his unique knowledge of multiple worlds and skill set as a neuro-engineer may be the saving grace of the entire human race.
Author C. Hofsetz paints a surreal alternate reality in ENEMY OF THE GODS that is pitch perfect in detail. This is a fast-paced, exciting fantasy with a wicked sense of humor and Zeon is an irreverent and unlikely hero, which make him all the more likeable.
In a world full of parallel planets, biotech and alien gods, protector angels and the dead resurrected, author C. Hofsetz explores themes of what makes us conscious, love, loyalty and the meaning of death in ENEMY OF THE GODS.
