IR VERDICT:
THE TURNING OF HEAVEN, by John Lazarus, is a work of satire fiction– an eclectic mix of prose and epic poetry you won’t soon forget. Readers should brace themselves for a work that colors outside of the lines to take them on an imaginative Chinese-themed journey of time-travel proportions. The material can be approached with a sense of humor and study. If the audience can get behind the author’s view of longstanding institutions like organized religion, and head-on collisions with quasi-taboo subjects like auto asphyxiation, interesting germs of wit and wisdom can be found in the writing. Fans of The Onion, or Monty Python’s Flying Circus may appreciate this book.
