Populated by a remarkable cast of characters, author Gregory Michael’s atmospheric debut makes for a dizzying combination of suspense, built up by the heady hustle to succeed and the uncertainty of the protagonist in getting away with the crime. It’s perfect for heist thriller enthusiasts who enjoy an added dash of science fiction elements.

In Karin Lovold’s LETHAL INJECTION, a labyrinth of conspiracy unfolds as Ian Knockshine awakens in a lunar penal colony, his memory erased, tasked with unearthly toil. As he grapples with his forgotten identity and the sinister machinations of a corrupt corporation, the fate of Earth hangs precariously in the balance. Lovold’s precise prose blends scientific intricacy with riveting suspense, evoking the greats of the Sci-Fi tradition, and delivering a cast of characters to be remembered.

In THE LIFE THAT FOLLOWS by David Hartshorn, Owen McGivney–a former attorney grieving the loss of his beloved wife–navigates the challenges of old age and loneliness. While he finds some comfort in company of his dog and friends, feelings of sadness remains as his life takes some unexpected turns. The story beautifully captures Owen’s emotional journey and the author creates a touching portrayal of all shades of human existence. A heartwarming and genuine story.

In David Hartshorn’s MORE THAN HALFWAY THERE delves into the challenges of life faced by the main character, John. The poignant narrative revolves around family dynamics, loss, and introspection. Readers follow John’s journey as he grapples with the consequences of his actions and seeks self-rationalization. Author Heather Leigh Strom guides readers through her thought-provoking memoir/self-help journey in K9 SPIRIT GUIDES: The Healing Power of Man’s Best Friend. The self-help aspect is in relation to the dogs the author trained and cared for, as psychological triggers (or tags, as she notates) rise, helping her overcome childhood/adulthood issues. Readers can gain an understanding of their issues vicariously through her lessons.

Matt Ingwalson’s latest novel, the futuristic satire THE NIHILISTICATS is a wild ride. After a mass data breach resulting in every American’s information posted n the dark web, individuals have the chance to make a “New Start: new name, new gender identification, new racial affiliation, and a Social Security number and phone provided by the government. When Marcus “Can” Antile, a guy just trying to make it through the day and maybe go to bed with one or more of his neighbors, meets the beautiful Rebecca in a bar, his life is shaken. She uses a landline, pays with cash. Oh, and the government’s looking for her, putting Can in their sights. The piece is over-the-top fun, punctuated by a popular podcast in between the Can-centric chapters, dealing with everything from love to deepfake videos to faking out the fakers. Nothing is off limits, and the serious undertones are only supported by the wry tone and the comedy, satire, and irony of the plot and characters. Ingwalson is a master of making the reader laugh while pointing out the danger. THE NIHILISTICATS is fast, fun, furious, and observant, with a scalpel’s precision.

BLOOD OF FIRE by Myrielle Glassman revolves around Maera, a high-ranking warrior forced to abdicate her Order after accusations of treason. Reader’s will be immersed in Maera’s magical world through spectacular world-building while the intricate mythology, settings and language are interwoven throughout the narrative, adding depth to the storyline. Fans of fantasy fiction with beautiful character development and eloquent phrasing will enjoy this novel.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU WEREN’T EXPECTING is written by Jyl Barlow in an authentic and lighthearted tone. The author does an incredible job in sharing her life journey, from childhood anecdotes to her role as a stepmom. What truly stands out about her, and is a crucial aspect of her book, is that she never forces moments to happen; they simply unfold naturally, and she embraces them as they come. Even if you’re not part of a blended family, her insights are truly valuable. Barlow’s honesty and relatability shines throughout, making this a must-read for anyone in need of humor, insight, and encouragement.

Brightly-colored illustrations by artist Lora Look help to bring THE TAEKWONDEROOS: Rescue at Rattling Ridge by Michael Panzer its special charm. Three kangaroo friends use their taekwondo skills to help a young kangaroo in distress. The story focuses on teamwork and compassion while introducing young readers to the Korean martial art of taekwondo.

AFRICA BROUGHT ME HOME by Cheryl A. Moore is a poignant and introspective narrative that delves into the transformative journey of the author, exploring profound questions of life and connection. The book beautifully captures the complexities of relationships formed during her African adventure, showcasing the challenges and rewards of cultural exchange. Despite the hurdles faced, the narrative resonates with resilience, offering a universal exploration of meaning and purpose.

Tanja Davia Tucker’s second novel, THREE DAYS IN AMSTERDAM is a layered, complex novel about trust and autonomy that explores how a woman discovers and takes the first steps to recover from deceit in her 17 year marriage. When Beth accompanies her much older husband, Dennis, on a business trip to Amsterdam, she realizes how emotionally abusive he is, and how much of herself she’s lost. Falling in love with the city itself, and fascinated by a stylish woman she meets in the flower market who works in the Red Light District, Beth faces a crossroads. The novel is full of small, delicate moments and details that create a rich physical and emotional landscape. The characters are strong and layered, the settings dimensional and evocative. There are plenty of surprises as Beth uncovers secrets and must plan her responses.

Zelly Ruskin’s ability to combine her career and personal experience with fertility issues and adoption procedures into the fictional mystery NOT YOURS TO KEEP makes for a compelling read. This debut novel will both rivet and educate couples facing such life-changing dilemmas and decisions.

DR. ANDREW BATSIS, HUSBAND! DENTIST! KIWANIAN! SANTA CLAUS? is a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable life of Dr. Andrew Batsis, a beloved husband, dentist, and Kiwanis Club member. Frank Tainter’s IS THAT YOU?
