What is the name of the book and when was it published?

The Good Husband – How to use your masculine strengths to benefit your family. It was published in September 2022.

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

Psychologist and couples therapist, Hagai Avisar, provides men with a relationship manual to capitalize on their masculine strengths. Taking inspiration from four ancient masculine roles (archetypes) – King, Lover, Magician, and Warrior – the model of The Good Husband explains how men can use these Old-New roles in ways that are fully aligned with the values and needs of a modern family.
The premise: the arrival of a baby launches the forces of evolution which make partners follow their ancient instincts and act in a more gender-typical way.

The value:  perspectives for a deeper understanding of relationships, and practical tools to address issues that men commonly cope with. The knowledge, insights, and strategies that Avisar shares in this book are based on research, state-of-the-art marriage counseling, and decades of clinical experience

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

My experience with couples who raise young children has taught me that the needs and vulnerabilities of young mothers are such that men are required to rise to the challenge and act on their masculine strengths. I developed the model to motivate and guide men. Their responses inspired me to spread the word beyond my private practice.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

Men who raise young children will find over thirty tools to address relationship problems such as Conflicts about tasks, roles, and fairness, Complaints and criticism, lack of sex, threats of divorce and more.
