What is the name of the book?
What’s the book’s first line?
Arnie Violet knew what it meant to have guts. The problem was he didn’t have any himself.
What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.
A thirty-year-old lacking in self-confidence and believing himself unlovable learns what it means to “lean into life.”
What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?
After reading Call Me By Your Name and watching the movie, I realized a different kind of book needed to be written for the 2020’s.
What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?
Everyone knows an Arnie. Everyone has parts of Arnie in himself or herself. The book is uplifting as the reader roots for the underdog and wants him to succeed.
What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character? Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?
Arnie Violet is bright and talented. He just doesn’t know it–and, as his mother reminded him during his childhood, “you’re just not special.” He has to find out that he actually is.
