IR Approved Author Sarah Woehler Tells All About Her Book

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE: Tips, Tools, and Inspiring Anecdotes to Transform Your Life for the Better received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Sarah Woehler.

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE: Tips, Tools, and Inspiring Anecdotes to Transform Your Life for the Better. It was published in January 2022.

What’s the book’s first line?

“It’s 10:56 on a Wednesday morning in late June and I’m listening to cars whizzing by heading to destinations unknown.”

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

Part practical manual/part memoir, HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE was inspired by my personal experiences seeking change the last number of years, starting with leaving my decade-long marriage at the age of 30 without any safety net in sight, followed by two cross-country moves and a journey of self-exploration.

Along the way, there was no straight line, no clear path, or any kind of user’s manual to tell me how to get there. So I decided to write a book to help others with some of the things I learned along the way. My goal with HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE is to provide some guidance and inspiration to others who want to pursue their own journey toward self-transformation but don’t know how — or where — to begin.

This book is for the hopeful dreamers and closet change-makers, insightful schemers, quiet rebels, and out-of-the-box thinkers who are ready for a bigger, more juicy life, but don’t know where — or how — to begin.

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I was inspired to write this book the very first day I moved to New York, almost three years ago. That moment was the culmination of a number of life changes, to finally arriving in the very city I had dreamed of living in since I was a young teen. Because I felt like I had achieved a number of things in my life up to that point, I felt a strong calling to share about my journey — to offer to the world a manual on change with personal stories from my own life — that could help others wanting to change their life, but didn’t know how to start.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

Change is hard, and yet it’s the very thing that causes us to grow and evolve in the end. If someone is struggling in their life, whether it’s their marriage or job or just in their day-to-day routine, this book is for them. It will hopefully not only inspire them to make the change they’ve been dreaming about, but it will provide some practical tools and practical advice as they embark on their own journey of change.

When did you first decide to become an author?

I’ve known I wanted to be a writer from the time I was seven. Winning the Young Author’s Contest in the 4th grade solidified the deal for me. I have always written, even if I’ve taken some career detours along the way.

Is this the first book you’ve written?

Yes, this is my debut book, with another one in the works!

What do you do for work when you’re not writing?

I have a coaching consultancy called Best Regards Services, where I provide one-on-coaching and consulting services to individuals seeking help on their relationships, career, and life. I’m also the host of the relationship-focused podcast, Interrelate.

How much time do you generally spend on your writing?

I write 4-5 mornings a week, with the morning light and a strong cup of coffee.

Is there something in particular that motivates you (fame? fortune?)

Helping people is the number one reason why I write and coach others. I believe that to be my strongest calling, and it’s in those two ways that I can achieve that in my life.

Which writer, living or dead, do you most admire?

I fell in love with Joan Didion’s work in college and have loved Judy Blume from the day I discovered Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret in my elementary school library.
