Making Photography Easy and Fun received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.
Following find an interview with author Angie Patterson.
What is the name of the book and when was it published?
Making Photography Easy and Fun. Published October 2020.
What’s the book’s first line?
“Oh, no, I cannot believe this just happened!”
What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.
Making Photography Easy and Fun is unique in content and teaching style to help any beginner photographer.
What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?
Relating to fellow beginner photographers’ frustrations, I was inspired to write the type of book I could not find to help me when first learning about my camera and photography.
What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?
To be inspired and excited by their new-found skills as they learn about photography and how a camera works.
When did you first decide to become an author?
Ten years ago, after teaching a series of beginner photography classes with my adult educator partner, Wendy.
Is this the first book you’ve written?
Yes.
What do you do for work when you’re not writing?
I spend time on photo shoots for my website and a future follow-up book, in addition to working part-time for a local photography business.
How much time do you generally spend on your writing?
Originally written ten years ago, I resurrected the book in February. In the eight months that followed, I averaged twenty hours a week for edits, adding new material, and working with a graphic designer.
What’s the best and the hardest part of being an indie?
The best is the opportunity to be part of the Indie community. The hardest is realizing how much there is to learn about becoming an author and the time it takes.
What’s a great piece of advice that you can share with fellow indie authors?
Please do not give up on your dreams; get advice from people who know what they are doing, how to help you, and what it takes. Making Photography Easy and Fun was a ten-year dream that became a reality after this realization.
Would you go traditional if a publisher came calling? If so, why?
I am not sure.
Is there something in particular that motivates you (fame? fortune?)
The desire to share what I have learned, encourage beginner photographers, and make a difference in the lives of others.
