IndieReader is pleased to announce a new contest (free to enter!!) to identify and bring attention to the Best Book Covers!
Quarterly (starting NOW…next submissions are for end of October) we will invite authors and designers to submit their book covers. Both fiction and non-fiction titles are welcome.
Why? Because although the old maxim is “you can’t tell a book by its cover”, authors and readers know that this isn’t always true.
As per an earlier IR blog post by our friends at Reedsy , “A great book cover design, at its most basic level, is something that will help readers take you and your book seriously. Online retailers like Amazon do not distinguish between traditional and self-published books — which means independent authors are often competing against Big 5 publishers. If your book stands a chance at succeeding, its design has to match or, if possible, exceed what the major companies are putting out.”
Two winners (one for fiction and for non-fiction) will be chosen monthly by an experienced guest judge* who will make their picks based on originality, execution and how well the cover relates and conveys the book’s genre. Winners–who will be announced early each following month–will receive the sticker, pictured above, to include on their book covers.
So what are you waiting for (did we say it’s free to enter?). Just go to here and fill out the form. We can’t wait to see your books!
* Please reach out to Amy at [email protected] if you have a design background (book production, graphic design, etc) and are interested in being considered as a guest judge.
