Advice from IR Approved Author Ludmila Ritz: “…trust your own voice within [and] do not compare yourself to others…”

A Single Desperate Prayer received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Ludmila Ritz.

What’s the name of the book and when was it published?

The name of my memoir is, A Single Desperate Prayer. It was self published in May of 2019 which was one of the best moments of my life!

What’s the book’s first line?

The first line of the book is a proposition/question I tried to solve; “I spent a lot of time constantly wondering why I was here, in this hell of a place  – at least that’s how it felt for a while.”

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”

More than a memoir, A Single Desperate Prayer is a riveting account of one resilient girl’s life in a Crimean ghetto, replete with equal amounts of tragedy and triumph. Told through the eyes of a child, the reader witnesses Ludmila’s growth and maturation as she starts from practically nothing, learns how to beg in the streets, loses all of what little she had, is left to the wolves, and then saved by grace – all before her  fifteenth birthday.

How hopeless can a child get? Ludmila got there.

How did she escape her condition? A single desperate prayer.

This gripping story appeals to a wide audience, from children to adults, from adoptive parents to those considering it. People who’ve been orphaned, or lost, or are looking for a way out. Those who need inspiration, and are searching for a practical way to find happiness and purpose in life.

This page turning story is sure to enrich every reader’s life with its powerful message of determination and hope.

What inspired you to write the book?

I was inspired to write my story shortly after I arrived in America. Everything changed completely when I came to this country, including myself, which left me feeling as if my past and where I came from were irrelevant and far away, like it never happened. I definitely didn’t want to  forget a darn thing, especially the answered prayer from God which I knew would be one of the most important pieces to the story. I wanted to inspire and help people one day, and I thought that my story could do that for others who went through similar experiences in life, and needed hope.

What’s the main reason someone should read this book?

The main reason I would hand my book to any human being is to help them become more of themselves; let them know they are not alone, that despite the horrors we went through, there is always a way out. We can still get inspired, overcome hardships, find hope and joy once more in our lives. The book is like a testament  that no matter what background we came from, it’s never too late, and anything is truly possible.

Is this the first book you have written?

Yes, this is my first book I have written, and it won’t be the last I hope! I enjoy writing, especially when I know it can help others!

What’s a great piece of advice that you can share with fellow indie authors?

If there is anything I learned when it comes to writing is to trust your own voice within, do not compare yourself to others, and most importantly never give up!
