We know that 2020 has been a memorable (aka stressful) year for many. According to experts, one of the recommended ways to manage stress and anxiety is by thinking about what scares you most and then writing about it.
Luckily Reedsy–a professional marketplace where authors can easily find and collaborate with the best editors, designers, and book marketers–hosts a weekly short story contest, Reedsy Prompts, where every Friday they announce five writing prompts centered around a particular theme. Participants are invited to submit their stories, between 1,000 and 3,000 words, based on the prompts. One winner receives a $50 prize from Reedsy and (for this contest only) 20% off an IndieReader Pro Review.
Fittingly, next week’s theme (provided by IndieReader) is to write a story set in the post-apocalypse. Our suggested writing prompts can be found on Friday, 9/18, the day Reedsy opens submissions for the contest.
So do yourself a favor and cast off all you pandemic-related stress by writing a story about it. See you next week!
