Advice from IR Approved Author Laura Jaka: “Don’t hide your truth. We all have a story, and yours could be an instrument that empowers someone to persevere.”

Willed In His Grace received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Laura Jaka.

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

The name of the book is Willed In His Grace. The publishing date was on September 27, 2019

What’s the book’s first line?

The first line of the book is one of my favorite Bible Verses: Deuteronomy 28:2, which reads: All these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. (KJV)

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch.”

The book is a Memoir. I shared about the trajectory of my life, about how my late grandmother inspired me and God’s unwavering love and mercy in my life.

What inspired you to write the book?A particular person? An event?

I did not intend to write a book.  Willed In His Grace birthed as a result of a tribute I wrote on September 28, 2018, for my grandmother on the fifteenth anniversary of her passing.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

It’s an empowering story of how God orchestrates our steps to first serve His will, but also, the valuable lessons we acquire from people or an individual that has been able to impact our lives in specific ways through God’s providence. Furthermore, I hope to be an inspiration to other people by encouraging them to believe that all things work together for our good and for the good of them that honors the call of God. Most importantly for God to be glorified, He’s the reason for it all.

If they made your book into a movie, who would you like to see play the main character(s)?

Lupita Nyong’o or Taraji P Henson.

When did you first decide to become an author?

I never dreamt of becoming an author. However, as a child, I’ve always believed that I’d be in movies or that my story would become one. God made me an author through the gift of writing, which allowed me to write an entire book in five weeks.

Is this the first book you’ve written?

Yes.

What do you do for work when you’re not writing?

I am in social services, and I work as a Real Estate agent.

How much time do you generally spend on your writing?

I wrote Willed In His Grace in five-week as I was led to write at a speed that I never had before, not even while I was at school.

What’s a great piece of advice that you can share with fellow indie authors?

Don’t hide your truth. We all have a story, and yours could be an instrument that empowers someone to persevere.

Would you go traditional if a publisher came calling?  If so, why?

Yes.  The goal is for the book to do very well, so the proceeds from the sale will benefit the people I have pledged to support.

Is there something in particular that motivates you (fame? fortune?)

Neither. My desire in life is to be financially comfortable so that I can meet the needs of those in need of support through God’s grace.
