IR VERDICT:
THE CHRONICLES OF A SOPHISTICATED REDNECK by Phillip Garrett is a wonderful memoir, a delight to read and experience. One of the most enduring stereotypes in this country is the redneck, born and bred in the South, often looked down upon by those who just do not understand the society. This book is the portrait of an upstanding, true Southern gentleman, raised right and kind. His love for his family, friends and his home state of Virginia is evident in every tale told, and invokes a sense of peace and pride in everything he lived and experienced. Well written, with many lessons to be learned from such a soft-spoken, loving man.
