Allen Ireland on LONERS AND MOTHERS

Loners and Mothers received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Allen Ireland.

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

Loners and Mothers, June, 2017.

What’s the book’s first line?

“A lone wolf crying in the wilderness”

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

The book is about the depth of the bond that exists between loners and their mothers, and how loners live in a kind of limbo between life and death.

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I was inspired to write this book by my own solitary experiences, by my morbid imagination, and by my deep and turbulent relationship with my mother.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

The book packs an emotional wallop, especially as it nears the end.  If you like poems that move you and make you think at the same time, then my book is for you.

When did you first decide to become an author?

Only a couple of years ago actually, when I felt I had written a large enough number of good poems to make a worthy collection.

Which writer, living or dead, do you most admire?

Charlotte Bronte.

Which book do you wish you could have written?

A Separate Peace.
