Roseanne Cheng on making people think beyond their own social media profiles

IR Sticker IR ApprovedRoseanne Cheng received a 4+ star review, making it an IndieReader Approved title.

Following find an interview with author Edge the Bare Garden.

What is the name of the book?

Edge the Bare Garden.

What’s the book’s first line?

“When it comes to kids, there are really only two types: the Ins and the Outs.”

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

Agnes’s young life has been full of daily taunts and rejections, so when the opportunity arises for her to take a little revenge, she takes it. Quickly, her online vengeance spirals out of control. At what point does retribution go too far? Who is responsible in an online world where no one is willing to take the blame?

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I’m amazed by what a wonderful and terrible place the Internet can be. As a teacher and parent, I want my children thinking about their online presence as an extension of themselves and think carefully before they post, comment, or share online.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

Edge the Bare Garden opens up important conversation in the home about digital citizenship. Both parents and kids will be able to relate to the themes of acceptance and non-judgement. My hope is that this book will make people think beyond their own social media profiles into the impact their online presence makes.
