From the Big Bang to Your Cells: The Remarkable Story of Minerals

What’s the book’s first line?

It was a hot summer afternoon in 2004 when I held in my hand a large, reddish-brown apple from a local grocery store.”

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

This is a nonfiction nutrition book that explains everything minerals do for plant and human cells. It takes the reader on a journey from the time when the ‘Big Bang’ occurred all the way through until today, including how minerals were involved in the creation of life and how they sustain life today. What I discovered is how important what form the minerals must be in order to optimize their usefulness inside the cells. This is the first book that emphasizes the fact that in order for minerals to be fully optimized by human cells they must be in the same form that is found in plant cells.

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I was interested in learning more about minerals and all they do in our bodies. So I looked for books that were about mineral nutrition and I found very little. I wanted to learn what they do for plants and humans and I was extremely disappointed to find that nobody had written a book using this format. When I hired a university to conduct a mineral analysis on an apple I was surprised at all the minerals that were contained in it and I sought to find out what they do in plant and human cells. However, I found myself having to borrow from dozens of books. So that is when I challenged myself to write a book in this format.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

Science has shown that minerals are far more important to our bodies than vitamins or any other nutrient. We rely upon them for our survival and you will learn what form minerals need to be in and what food sources supply minerals in the right form. By reading this book you will look at minerals from a new perspective because it revolutionizes the way we look at our bodies. The book is easy to read is written for the everyday person.
