Debra Rogers on her IRDA Winning “He Did You a Favor”

What is the name of the book and when was it published?

He Did You a Favor: A Smart Girl’s Guide to Breaking Up, Waking Up, and Discovering the Gift of YOU.  October, 2013.

He Did You bigWhat’s the book’s first line?

“You’re devastated by the way he impaled your heart on a dagger.”

What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.

He Did You a Favor is an empowering, humorous, hands-on guide with straight-talk and advice to help you break away from Mr. Wrong and break through to the life (and the guy) you desire.

What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?

I found out my husband was having an affair. I was eight months pregnant. At that point, I had no job, no friends, and no life of my own.

When my daughter was born, everything changed. It changed the way I saw myself, the way I saw my life, and how I was going to live it from here on. When I realized he did me a favor I was finally able to move forward, knowing my life would be better for it. And I was right. I’m now doing what I love. I’m engaged to an amazing man. And my ex and I are great friends and co-parents.

When other women heard my story, they wanted to know how they could do it too. That’s when I knew I had to write this book.

He Did You a Favor is the first in a series of six books I’ve designed so that you can have the life and the relationships you’ve always dreamed of.

What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?

He Did You a Favor views breakups (or any bad experience) in a whole new way.  It empowers you to love better, live better, and date better.
