What is the name of the book and when was it published?
DANCING ON ROCKS; PUB DATE: MAY 2014
What’s the book’s first line?
“Georgie Haydock was well aware of the capriciousness of the torrent
tumbling beneath her as she paused on the bridge. She watched the
muddy water race over and around the massive boulders like a raging
beast ramming its way down the gorge.”
What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.
A turbulent summer in a small mountain tourist town where four women must reveal their secrets in order to heal a twenty-five-year-old wound.
What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?
There’s something about the little village of Chimney Rock tucked in North Carolina’s historic Hickory Nut Gorge where I live that gets under your skin, and I wanted to portray the resilient character of the people who have kept this remote little hamlet alive over the past 200 years.
What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character?
Georgie Haydock managed to grow from a strong-willed girl into a capable woman…all while hiding the shame from a secret that could destroy her.
Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?
She embodies the strength and the ability to endure that typifies the character of this country’s early settlers to our harsh mountains.
What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?
A stroll through the pages of this book will envelop you in the aura of a historic village tucked into one of the most beautiful spots on the face of the earth…. delivered with a story of family, community, lost love and redemption.
