A post in yesterday’s GalleyCat proclaims that, “According to the latest metrics from Nielsen BookScan unit sales of print books rose 2.4 percent in 2014. This accounts for more than 635 million units sold.”
The post goes on to to note that, “The increase was largely driven by retail and club sales, which were up 3.4 percent last year. Publishers Weekly has more: “Units through retailers and clubs, which include Amazon and all types of bookstores, rose to just under 519 million; in 2013, print units through the channel fell 2.5% compared to the previous year.”
So, dear indie author, if you’re still waiting for your ebook to bring you riches, it’s a great time to consider print and/or wider distribution for your title. The more formats your title is available in, the better your chances of discoverability and sales.
