An accessible and friendly approach to improving cybersecurity from an expert and a victim.

An accessible and friendly approach to improving cybersecurity from an expert and a victim.

Schober is a cybersecurity expert and the CEO of a wireless engineering corporation, but even he has fallen prey to hackers. In HACKED AGAIN, Schober provides details about the hacks directed at himself and his company before delving into how to prevent or mitigate future attacks. The book is broken down in four sections highlight Schober’s past, best practices and insights, how to move forward with that information, and he breaks down big ticket hacks and their ramifications for everyone else.

While the POV of HACKED AGAIN is that of a tech company CEO and expert, the information he lays out is accessible to anyone and everyone. The book is part memoir, part cautionary tale, and part instructional guide. Schober artfully presents examples from history, the news, and his own dealings with cybersecurity in an attempt to spread the knowledge as far as he can. As Schober states, “security is everyone’s business.” Schober fearlessly explains the circumstances of bank fraud and hacking he’s suffered, which is even more impressive as his business revolves around keeping wireless security one step ahead of the hackers. The information is presented clearly and with a positive tone. Schober provides several ways for the everyday consumer to increase security in their own life including creating strong passwords and safe browsing practices, but the book doesn’t delve deep enough into actionable steps to be more than an overview of consumer cybersecurity.

HACKED AGAIN is an accessible and intriguing launching point to building and maintain a safe presence in this increasingly computer-driven world.
