Why do so many people overeat, despite the sometimes devastating consequences? Is it to make up for lost love or lost innocence?  Or just a form of hedonism?

This moving fictional tale is informed by real-life experience about the roots of food addiction.  The six characters in this story all have something in common: an addiction to food.  And they are all members of The Last Cookie Club.  Formed by Larry Brennan who has been plagued by an eating disorder all his life, Larry brings these people together to examine the true reasons for addictive behaviors.

The book’s author, Gary Mahoney, skillfully conveys the evolution of each character, and you find yourself rooting for all of them.  The storyline is nicely organized and is a pleasure to read.
