Synopsis:

THE JOURNEY OF AN ACORN is the story of how a little acorn abandoned a life of pain and discovered the secret to a meaningful life.

In THE JOURNEY OF AN ACORN, author Corey Wolff has created a story perfect for readers young and old. This short tale tells the story of a little acorn who is afraid to leave the protective arms of its oak tree. It does not help matters that the oak tree, for its part, has no desire to let go of the acorn. And so, acorn and oak tree are trapped in a relationship that benefits neither. When the acorn finally frees itself from the oak tree’s embrace, it finds itself scared and alone. When other creatures, such as a friendly squirrel, attempt to help the acorn, the oak tree intervenes.

Time passes, and eventually the little acorn becomes a little tree. However, life in the shadow of the old oak tree is no easier than it was before, and the little acorn must look within itself in order to find the strength to create a life of joy and meaning. In time, the little acorn learns how to live a meaningful life—and his lessons can become ours as well. The little acorn teaches readers that “Everything you need to become great […] is already within you.”

THE JOURNEY OF AN ACORN is a perfect metaphor for the journey every person makes in life. Just as the little acorn must learn how to break away from that which does not help him grow, so too must we. And, just as the little acorn needs to learn to love and trust, so too must we. The acorn’s journey shows children that holding on to pain and disappointment only hurts us in the end. The acorn releases the negative emotions that kept him from growing and in turn discovers a destiny of independence and self-fulfillment. With its simple prose, straightforward narration, and beautiful storyline, THE JOURNEY OF AN ACORN is perfect for children. Short enough to be read in a single sitting, this enchanting tale is perfect for a bedtime story. Adult readers should note that, while children will love THE JOURNEY OF AN ACORN, adults have much to gain from it, too. In fact, the only drawback to the story is that it isn’t longer, as our time with the delightful acorn is over much too soon.

A moving parable that speaks of the need to relinquish pain and disappointment in order to grow to our fullest potential, THE JOURNEY OF AN ACORN is an inspirational tale that has much to offer readers of any age.
