Verdict: NEW JUMP SWING HEALTHY AGING AND ATHLETIC NUTRITION PROGRAM has some solid advice, but the language level, breadth of scope, and amount of research included will make it difficult for most readers to understand and apply.
NEW JUMP SWING HEALTHY AGING AND ATHLETIC NUTRITION PROGRAM is a well-researched book that provides a diet and exercise plan that is designed to help ward off the effects of aging.
Jump roping has been around for centuries, as has a vegetarian diet, and the author makes a strong case for them both as an ideal plan to support long-term health. The book was written by Donald “Spiderman” Thomas, a three-time Guinness Book World Record Holder, who also has a doctorate in divinity and calls himself “The Philosopher of Divine Nutrition.” A passionate advocate of vegetarianism and herbs-as-medicine, the Thomas’ book advocates sports nutrition as a key to health, sports performance, and of course, longevity.
The core weakness in NEW JUMP SWING lies in its greatest strength. The author has conducted vast amounts of research to support his recommendations. Because he shares so much of it in the book, the reader can easily get lost in the science. The language level is above that of the average reader, and at 310 pages (before the references), it can take quite a bit of time to wade through the information.
Because Thomas has done such extensive research, the recommendations are spot on. He advocates a vegetarian diet, with greater that sixty percent complex carbohydrates, and effectively challenges American governmental nutritional guidelines. NEW JUMP SWING HEALTHY AGING & ATHLETIC NUTRITION PROGRAM also covers interesting subjects like “nutritional cannabis,” and “beer as a fluid/carbohydrate source.”
The second part of the book covers “New Jump Swing” as a recommended exercise form, and goes deeply into the physiology of how to do it safely and prevent injury. NEW JUMP SWING HEALTHY AGING & ATHLETIC NUTRITION PROGRAM would have benefited from some judicious editing to keep the message relevant to readers who want to improve their physical health through jumping, nutrition, and herbal medicine.
NEW JUMP SWING HEALTHY AGING & ATHLETIC NUTRITION PROGRAM has some solid advice, but the language level, breadth of scope, and amount of research included will make it difficult for most readers to understand and apply.
