Following find an interview with author David Pepper.
What is the name of the book and when was it published?
The People’s House, August 15, 2016
What’s the book’s first line?
Few things lift my spirits like a good obituary.
What’s the book about? Give us the “pitch”.
In a year where just about everything has happened in the real world of politics, The People’s House tells the fictional story of an internationally hatched plot to alter the majority in the US House of Representatives. But a burned out newspaper reporter in Ohio, following up on irregularities in the local election he covered, stumbles across clear signs that something deep is amiss. To get to the bottom of the story, he must track down every clue, confront corrupt politicians and officials, and do everything he can to avoid becoming the latest casualty of the deadly plot.
What inspired you to write the book? A particular person? An event?
I am actively involved in Ohio politics, and wanted to tell both a good story, but also one that exposed unfortunate realities about our current political system.
What’s the main reason someone should really read this book?
There is a viral following of both real world and fictional politics today, especially on television. This novel taps into that interest. So for those who can’t get enough of the current political campaigns, or stay up late watching shows like House of Cards, The People’s House will be right up your alley. A page-turning plot, a colorful cast of characters, but also some deeper insights into the weaknesses of our current political system and the need for reform.
