Hybrid Author Blake Crouch’s “Dark Matter” Named a “Best Book of the Year”

Congrats to hybrid author Blake Crouch, whose thriller Dark Matter, (pubbed by Crown with film right picked up by Sony) was just named a top 10 “best book of the year” by Canada’s bookstore chain, Indigo.

After starting his career with a traditional publisher, Crouch moved to self-publishing in 2011 with his novel Run, which quickly found a devoted audience. A year later, he joined forces with Amazon’s (then) newly launched Thomas & Mercer imprint to publish Pines, the first book in what would become the enormously successful Wayward Pines trilogy, which was made into a television series, starring Matt Dillon, and airs on FOX.

Dark Matter, a mix of speculative fiction and thriller, tells the story of brilliant physicist Jason Dessen, in “a brilliantly plotted tale that is at once sweeping and intimate, mind-bendingly strange and profoundly human—a relentlessly surprising science-fiction thriller about choices, paths not taken, and how far we’ll go to claim the lives we dream of.”
