SELF-PUBBED AUTHOR MEREDITH WILD PROFILED IN THE NYTIMES. WORLD KEEPS TURNING
Yes, it’s true. The New York Times recently did a profile story on Meredith Wild, an indie romance author. Perhaps their interest had something to do with the fact that this particular author started a publishing company (Waterhouse Press), featuring an author (Audrey Carlan), whose Calendar Girl series has sold more than a million copies since it was re-released last summer. Or maybe it has something to do with the books–12 in all–having taken up residence on major bestseller lists (including that of The New York Times).
Said Meredith of new venture, “I’m more comfortable being in control of my successes and failures,” she said. “It’s kind of hard to be on the sidelines.” Spoken like a true indie.

A NEW LITERARY MOVEMENT: WE HAVE “METHOD” ACTORS, SO WHY NOT “METHOD” AUTHORS?
From Independent (2/1/16) – The technique has been used to great effect on screen, so Thomas W Hodgkinson decided to adopt it for his novel, which was written in a cupboard above his bed.
…my question is this. If the Method works so well for actors, why hasn’t it been explored more by authors? The principle is the same, particularly for novelists, who must immerse themselves, like actors, in the sensations of being someone other than themselves.

From Forbes (2/1/16) – So many business accomplishments are dependent on the quality of your writing. And if you’re serious about improving your writing, nothing will help you more than to closely read, actively underline, and diligently apply the lessons you can learn from these three books.
