Lexi Lacroix is a twenty-eight-year-old wedding gown designer who is meeting with big wig, Martina Galliano who is interested in partnering with Lexi on a new line of dresses. Lexi sees Jax at the airport gate, also waiting for the flight to New York, and connects with him wirelessly. Though Lexi has also sworn off relationships, she agrees to rendezvous with Jax, determined and certain that it will be a sex-only encounter. However, Lexi quickly finds herself attracted to Jax emotionally, as well as physically. Though both want to pursue deeper relationships with one another, Jax is worried that Lexi might be using his celebrity status to network with other people, while Lexi has been warned that her social interactions are monitored by Galliano, who wants to ascertain that all her employees have impeccable backgrounds and practices so that Galliano’s society clients maintain the highest of reputations. But, social pressure and the fear of being hurt again may prove to be no match for the growing affection and rising libidos.
The story gets off to a slow start as Jax argues with an ex-girlfriend who he believes used him to meet more powerful players in the movie world. The arguments are filled with expletives and the dialogue feels stilted. However, love has transforming powers because Jax becomes completely different once he is exposed to Lexi. Both warm up to an easy-going conversation. And though their backstory and the plot is not complicated, Lexi and Jax are credible, likeable characters. The sweetness of the relationship that is developing emotionally complements the passionate sex scenes that spark with erotic descriptions of foreplay and their sexuality and keep the story moving along.
RECKLESS offers some titillating moments in this sweet and spicy love story.
