Calling All Indie Readers!

Authors Unbound (AU), the first reading series devoted exclusively to indie authors, kicks off its first full season TONIGHT! at the Duplex in New York City.

Created by publishing veterans Ariella Papa (Turn of the Century Stores) and Lynn Messina (Bleak) and recently joined by partner IndieReader, Authors Unbound provides self-published authors with opportunities to share their work with readers and connect with fans.

“First and foremost”, says Messina, “AU was created to give indie authors a platform from which to share their ideas. When Ariella and I first pubbed our ebooks, we realized that not having brick-and-mortar distribution meant that we lacked the chance to do live readings.”  Adds Papa: “Writing is such a solitary process and one of the few things I missed when I epublished was the chance to interact with my readers on a one-to-one basis.”

Amy Edelman, founder of IndieReader, sees Authors Unbound events as a way to further introduce readers to books and authors that might otherwise go unnoticed. “Even with all the attention now paid by traditional publishers, indie authors still need to work extra hard to reach their audience.  Authors Unbound creates the opportunity for readers to meet some great indie authors, have a drink and hear them read from their works.”

The October 9th event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Duplex, 61 Christopher Street at Seventh Avenue. Readers will include Brittany Geragotelis (What the Spell?), Frank Anthony Polito (Lost in the ’90s), Ariella Papa (Turn of the Century Stores) and Lynn Messina (Bleak).

The reading is free, but there is a two-drink minimum. Homemade chocolate chip cookies will be served.

We hope to see you there!
