IR Approved
One Pink Line is a beautifully written and well-crafted story about Sydney, a senior in College, who gets pregnant by someone other than the love of her life, but decides to keep her baby. Woven into Sydney’s story is the story of her daughter, Grace, who wants to meet her biological father.

First time Author Dina Silver jumps right into Sydney’s story beginning in college, but then flashes back to her last year of high school to highlight how Sydney meets the love of her life.  Silver then begins to weave in Grace’s story and then both stories weave in and out of one another.  The skillful transitioning and Silver’s clear, concise writing makes for an engrossing read, as two stories unfold from two viewpoints and generations.

Silver has effectively captured the nuances of various stages of life in all her characters, from the angst and embarrassing, peer pressure filled days of high school to the frenzied, chaotic and self absorbed times in college, to more soul searching and pensive times as an adult.  Though Silver does not delve too much into some of the issues such as the strife and hardship of raising a child, but focuses more on the overall growth of her main characters, Sydney and Grace, the author writes a persuasive tale about identity, transformation and familial love. Silver successfully captures the complications of a young long-distant love, the relationship between mothers and daughters versus fathers and daughters as well as the power of love, determination and a baby.

One Pink Line is a delightful read, perfect for young adults and adults alike.
