To Kill a Warlock

By H.P. Mallory

IR Rating:
4.0
This imaginative paranormal urban fantasy introduces a host of charming and unusual characters: readers won’t be able to resist the spirited Dulcie and her motley otherworldly crowd.
Though there’s plenty of sex and violence in this murderous tale there’s also just the right amount of humor and fairy dust sprinkled throughout.

Dulcie O’Neil is no ordinary fairy (though she does have pointy ears). She’s 5’1”, drives a yellow Jeep Wrangler, works for the A.N.C. (Association for Netherworld Creatures)  as a “Regulator” (her job is to monitor the creatures of the Netherworld as they interface with the mortal world), and packs a pistol with dragon blood bullets.

Her best friend is a witch, her boss is a sexy elf, her co-worker is a hobgoblin, and she’s being romantically pursued not only by a vampire who runs a nightclub called No Regrets but also by an attractive “Loki” detective sprung from the fires of Hades and Southern California.

In her spare time, Dulcie also writes steamy romance novels and queries agents (even fairies, apparently, have to struggle with writer’s block and rejection). When a friendly warlock is violently murdered by a mysterious creature, Dulcie and her colleagues vow to track down the killer.

The search leads Dulcie and the handsome Loki (aptly named Knight) into the depths of an S&M club run by a demon. With her own life in jeopardy and the creature on a killing frenzy, Dulcie and Knight join forces to uncover a devious plot, and Dulcie must come face to face with the complex issue of trust.
