Deana Harrington is just an everyday virgin with a job and a life until she is spotted by a very extraordinary fellow.
Fryar—an incarnation of the Norse pagan fertility god Freyr—has a penchant for women of all types but Deana is different; a “Hater,” she literally can‘t tolerate Fryar’s attentions and will lose her mind if he presses her too far. Nevertheless, Fryar kidnaps his reluctant prey and spirits her away on a cruise; as long as she remains his companion and doesn’t try to escape he promises to release her at the end of the journey.
Oddly enough, this unlikely duo has much to learn from one another as their relationship evolves; Fryar examines both his limitations and the depth of his desires, while Deana probes the boundaries of her courage and ability to trust. And Fryar is not without humor; for an immortal, supernatural, sexual predator he has a fascinating way of meting out justice.
Readers will be intrigued by Fryar’s mesmerizing sexual powers, as well as surprised by his sense of compassion, and though there are a few rough moments (including another kidnapping), readers will be rewarded by the ultimately uplifting turn of events. Deighan’s unusual tale is not for the sexually squeamish, though her uniquely gifted main character may very well work his magic even upon those who resist!
