The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden BeforeJessica Sorensen begins her six-part Coincidence series with The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, a tale of two tortured souls who find each other. Originally self-published in 2012, the first installment was picked up by Little, Brown Book Group and given a slightly updated cover.

Coincidence tells the story of Callie, hiding painful secrets from a traumatic event that changed her life when she was 12. Now 18, Callie finds daily life difficult to endure. Enter Kayden, a former classmate who by a twist of fate attends the same college as the girl he never knew in school. And he hides his own dark past – a terrible mistake that threatens to ruin his life. Both Callie and Kayden need saving; the best thing for each of them is each other.

Sorensen proves a prolific writer, with several New Adult Contemporary and paranormal series under her belt and ongoing. She lives in Wyoming and is an avid lover of music, TV and film.

the Coincidence of Kallie & Kayden AfterSo, how much changed between Sorensen’s original, indie cover to the original? Not a whole lot, unless you’re really looking for it. The background cover image – of two lovers kissing in the rain – is unchanged. It’s the font that’s been vamped. Let’s start with the book title: Sorensen chose a more casual, off-kilter design to the lettering, while the new version gave everything a straighter, more formal look. In the update cover, the author’s name was also made to stretch across the top.
